View From the 17th Floor (2023)
DESCRIPTION:
One of a kind, photographic artwork created through digital manipulation. Printed on high-quality acid-free paper using archival pigments. This is a single print, no others will be made. 30 X 27 inches with an additional 3” white border. Complete dimensions are 36 X 36 inches. Signed and dated, with a print-number (1/1), on the border.
THE STORY BEHIND THE IMAGE:
Chicago’s downtown was the original inspiration for the New City collection, a playful reimagining of urban architecture, verticality, and density. “View From the 17th Floor” started as a realistic photo of buildings visible from the east windows of Lurie Childrens Hospital, seventeenth floor. The photo was intentionally distorted and recolored using several digital applications, employed randomly until I arrived at a result that reflected the feeling I was trying to express.
