Atmospheric Perspective
Atmospheric Perspective refers to the effect the atmosphere has on the appearance of an object as it recedes into the distance. As the distance between an object and a viewer increases, the contrast and detail decrease and colors of the object become less saturated or hazy, often taking on a bluish tint.
As historical painters sought to achieve realistic landscape paintings, learning how to render these atmospheric conditions to create the illusion of depth became an important skill.
In our contemporary artistic moment, illusion, depth and distance are still active forces as we navigate the world. This exhibition will contemplate various interpretations of an “atmospheric perspective,” including traditional landscape renderings, work about climate change, environmental justice, land rights, cellular and satellite waves that invisibly fly through the air that we breath, various socio-political atmospheres, and everything in-between.

Political Discord - online exhibition
JURIED SHOW
Though often divisive and inflammatory, we can't avoid politics in today's world. The intrinsic beliefs and opinions that shape us as human beings can almost always be seen in a political light.
For our show this month, we asked artists to explore our continued political discourse with the use of imagery to make the point of our current state of the nation.
This exhibition hopes to get people talking about the sticky subjects and provide visual commentary about subjects like human rights and immigration, pro-life or pro-choice, gun rights or gun control, animal rights, and environmental issues.
Artists included in this exhibition include local, national, and international artists.

First prize in Photography: “Rhythm Bar”
Judge’s comment: “Intentional yet effective, the vibrating blur enhances the contrasting colorful lamps as they flutter and dance in the low light. The image captures kinetic potential, the energy of the night to come, or perhaps the reverberation of many nights past.”
